Flatwter Kayaking Sprint and Marathon Pathways
 
Sprint kayaking is an olympic discipline with state, national and international competition. The race distances are 200m, 500m, 1000m and 2000m.
Marathon kayaking has state, national and international competition and the race distances are anything up to 40km.
 
Those looking to get involved in flatwater kayaking can start at clubs like West Lakes Canoe Club at West Lakes (www.westlakes.canoe.org.au),  Onkaparinga Canoe Club at Port Noarlunga (www.onkacc.canoe.org.au), Holdfast Bay Canoe Club at Glenelg (www.hbcc.canoe.org.au), Encounter Paddling at Victor Harbor (www.encounter.canoe.org.au) and Christian Brothers College Canoe Club for students of the school and their family members.
 
 can be selected for the TID (talent identification and development) program which provides coaching, boat and paddle use and shower and change rooms.
Paddlers can then qualify for the JETS (junior elite talent squad) program where they will train from the SASI boat shed,  have more trainings and have access to SASI facilities like the gym, ergo room, etc.
When the paddler is not a junior, they can qualify for a SASI scholarship.
