Murray 200 / 100 Race
QueenÕs Birthday Long Weekend
June 11th 12th & 13th 2005
á For 18 years now, intrepid paddlers have flocked to South AustraliaÕs Riverland for the SA Murray 200/100 events organised by the Marathon Canoe Club of S.A.
á One may enter the individual 200 Km race, the 200 km Relay Challenge, or the 100 km which is held every June from Berri to Morgan over 3 days of the QueenÕs Birthday weekend.
á In the Relay Challenge Teams can have four to six paddlers for K2/TK2/C2 or two to three paddlers in K1/TK1/C1. At each checkpoint the team changes paddlers.
á Those wanting more of a personal challenge can enter the SA Murray 100 race with distances over the three days totalling 91 km. (36km, 25km, and 30km). This race runs concurrently with the relay starting mid-morning and finishing with the relay and Murray 200 paddlers each day.
á Of course the ultimate is to enter the SA Murray 200 and do the whole distance, (76km, 69km, 63km) a race not recommended for the novice paddler but considered by some to be the most challenging marathon in Australia. All races are open to boats of all classes but each team or individual paddler must have ground crew who follow the paddlers on land and meet their needs when necessary.
á The races are well supported over the three days by Scouts Radio Group and St John Ambulance Australia Riverland Corps. A significant part of participantsÕ entry fee is a donation to these groups that goes directly back into the Riverland community.
á Make this the year and join a friendly group of paddlers and their ground crews from around Australia and paddle the Murray with us, or just cheer them on
