RESULTS…Murray 200 / Murray 100 / Murray Relay

UPDATED – RESULTS NOW AVAILABLE….. BELOW

Threee days of fine weather over the Queen's Birthday long weekend offered competitors in the Marathon Canoe Club's Murray 200, Murray 100 and Murray Relay great paddling conditions.
A number of records were either set or broken including the establishment of a C4 relay time (M200 Relay) and Under 16 Men's K2 (M100), which also broke the existing U18 record.

Over 140 competitors in a variety of craft including kayaks, canoes, outriggers and dragonboats enetered the event. Whilst the majority of competitors enter the Murray 100 event, 16 craft enetered the 200 event (207km) which is a very demanding event even in the favourable conditions seen this weekend.

Although in the month or so prior to the event, organisers were concerned about the long range forecasts, and as such had prepared for the worst with additional rescue craft, communications and equipment, the conditions were kind to paddlers. Although the days were still cold, the light winds were a godsend to the paddlers who mostly found the conditions favourable.

Like any endurance event, some fell victim to the constant wear and tear on muscles, hands and minds.
