Fee Structure for 2014/15

Fees paid to your local canoe club include an amount paid to the state association, Canoe SA.

Your fees support the development of paddle sport and recreation in South Australia

Approx 50% of membership fees paid to Canoe SA is paid to Australian Canoeing to support the sport at the national level

Approx 50% of membership fees is used to grow the sport in South Australia

Fees for the 2014-15 financial year are:

Junior = $70.00

Definition: A junior member is a person whose principal place of residence is in South Australia and is under the age of 18 as 1 July in the year of membership.

Membership Rights:

Voting rights at all association general meetings, Eligible to enter any AC discipline competition in Australia, Eligible for selection to South Australian and national squads or teams.

Adult = $90.00

Definition: An adult member is a person whose principal place of residence is in South Australia and is over the age of 18 as of 1 July in the year of membership

Membership Rights:

Voting rights at all association general meetings, Eligible to enter any AC discipline competition in Australia, Eligible for selection to South Australian and national squads or teams.

Family Membership = $210.00

Family membership is for adults and children/full-time students who reside together. Family members may include blended families provided that all the persons covered by the membership reside together.

Definition: Family members may include up to two adults and an unlimited number of children under the age of 18 or full-time students under the age of 25 as at 1 July in the membership year. Family members have the same membership rights as Junior or Adult members.

Volunteer = $20.00

This category is to provide recognition to volunteers within clubs or the association who may be parents or partners of paddlers.

Definition: A volunteer member is a non-paddling member of an affiliated canoe club who provides volunteer support for the club or association.

A volunteer member:

does not have voting rights at general meetings as per the constitution (cl 7.2)

is not eligible to enter any discipline competition in South Australia

is not eligible to be on a Technical Committee

Introductory Member: Adult = $30.00, Junior = $25.00

Introduction to the sport for a short period on a trial basis not exceeding 3 months. An introductory member who joins within 1 month of the expiry of the introductory period is only required to pay the balance of the annual membership fee. An introductory membership can only be used once in each 3 year period.

Definition:

An introductory member has paid a fee to Canoe SA for membership on a trial basis not exceeding three months. An introductory member does not have voting rights at general meetings of the association in accordance with clause 7.2 of the constitution.

The Board of Canoe SA discusses fees early in the calendar year and sets the fees at the April Board meeting.

Where do the fees paid to Canoe SA go?

Australian Canoeing Fees

Canoe SA pays an annual levy to Australian Canoeing. Approximately half the fee paid to Canoe SA is paid to Australian Canoeing to cover such things as:

National Insurance Scheme to protect members for Personal Accident and Public Liability

AC Office administration, wages and running costs

National Membership Database (MyClub)

National website (MyWebsite) and all states and clubs are entitled to have a linked website hosted by the national webservice provider

National advocacy and leadership for paddle sport and recreation issues

National and International affiliations with appropriate sporting and recreation bodies (AOC, AIS & etc)

Goods and Services Tax (GST)

In accordance with Australian law, 1/11th of all income is remitted to the Australian Taxation Office for GST

Approximately 50% of money paid in membership fees is used by canoe SA for the development of paddle sport and recreation in South Australia.
