PAQS FLATWATER ASSESSMENT DAY 10 Feb

PAQS (PADDLE AUSTRALIA QUALIFICATION SCHEME) FLATWATER ASSESSMENT DAY

SUNDAY 10 FEBRUARY

The 2019 Flatwater Assessment Day will be an ideal chance for those who have previously undertaken their skills and theory training, but for a variety of reasons have not had the chance to complete their final paddling assessment.

It is anticipated that candidates attending will be assessed at one of the following levels:

PAQS Flatwater Lifeguard (Supervisor) Award

This is the introductory level to gain employment in the industry. Holders of this award are qualified to manage and supervise a paddling activity in enclosed situations, where the group does not leave the immediate launch area.

PAQS Flatwater Guide Award (FWG)

This award qualifies you as a FWG to lead group trips in canoes / kayaks on lakes and rivers in controlled conditions. A FWG enables safe participation in the activity without the intention of teaching all paddling skills.  Multi-day and overnight activities require the Overnight Camping Endorsement.

PAQS Flatwater Instructor Award (FWI)

An accredited FWI is qualified to instruct and lead groups on overnight or full-day excursions on inland waterways in moderate conditions. An instructor is able to critique technique and apply a variety of instructional strategies.
