Position Vacant: Director, Board of Management (Casual Vacancy)

Paddle SA (formerly Canoe South Australia) is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified people to join its Board of Directors.

Paddle SA (PSA) is recognised by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) as the pre eminent body responsible for canoe and kayak sporting activities throughout the state.

Whilst a primary consideration of the Association is to manage and develop the sport in the areas of competition and high performance, our current strategic charter also places a strong focus on promoting and encouraging recreational paddling in all its forms.

As people increasingly look to spend their own time in their own way, more are discovering the positive outcomes that paddling offers. A key role for the PSA Board is to facilitate a tangible, ongoing engagement with that sector of the paddling community.

Our Board of Directors is a passionate group of people committed to leading the Association through challenges, growth, and change on behalf of its members. The Board’s responsibilities include strategic planning, financial oversight, compliance, and risk management.

There is strong evidence which highlights gender balance in key decision‑making roles increases the performance of boards.

As such, Paddle SA strongly endorses the ORSR 40:40:20 Policy (Boards comprising a minimum of 40% women, 40% men and the remaining 20% discretionary), This Policy is committed to assisting organisations provide environments where the contribution of women is valued, respected and encouraged.

The role of a Paddle SA Board Director includes:

  • Attending and contributing to regular Board meetings
  • Champion of a project aligned to the PSA Strategic Development Plan
  • Representing PSA at relevant forums, special events and functions
  • Attendance at the PSA Annual General Meeting (held in November)
