The West Lakes Classic will be held this Sunday the 21st of July at Aquatic Reserve.

The PSA State Doubles Titles will be held with the Classic as a “race-within-a-race”.
Registration will be at 8:30 for a 9:00 start for racing.
Entry fees for PSA members are $20 per person for the West Lakes Classic and $25 per person for the State Doubles Titles.
A surcharge of $15 per person will be applied to all non-PSA members to cover insurance costs.
Portages will be set up for those wishing to practice this aspect of marathon racing and will be mandatory for all boats competing in the State Doubles Titles.
The PSA LD Series Points System will apply for the race, as per the attached document, with double points on offer for all those competing in the State Doubles Titles.
At the moment the weather forecast for Sunday morning is not ideal, but acceptable.  A final review of the forecast will be made on Friday evening and a notification circulated via email should the weather be deemed unsuitable for the event to be held.

Race 1: 26 May– West Lakes Classic Regatta at Aquatic Reserve, Bower Road, West Lakes.

Race 2: 23 June – The Baudin Flinders Race hosted by Encounter Paddling at Encounter Lakes, Victor Harbor

Race 3: 21 July – The Brother Howard Memorial Race hosted by West Lakes Canoe Club at Aquatic Reserve West Lakes

Race 4: 11 Aug – The Trevor Gallard Memorial Race hosted by Encounter Paddling at Encounter Lakes, Victor Harbor

Race 5: 25 Aug – The Onkaparinga Race hosted by Onkaparinga Canoe Club on the Onkaparinga River at Port Noarlunga

Race 6: 21 Sept – The Holdfast Race hosted by Holdfast Paddlesports on the Patawalonga at Glenelg North

Paddle SA will be introducing a new point system for the LD Series that will operate across the full series.  The system is intended to promote participation and inclusiveness, while rewarding performance, and provides all competitors with the opportunity to accumulate points by simply competing and gain bonus points for performing well in their nominated gender, age and boat class divisions.

At the end of the LD Series divisional winners will be declared and issued with a certificate and “Overall Champions” in eight championship categories will receive an award.
